Keep yourself and your vehicle safe
In the event of severe weather, here’s some useful information that may help keep you and your family safe:
- The priority is to keep yourself, your family and pets safe and calm
- Secure your property, locking doors and closing shutters on windows
- Don't forget to secure any outdoor property, such as sheds or garden furniture
- Keep your vehicles under secure cover and away from any overhanging trees
- Stay up to date with the progress of the event via local news and radio
- If it’s safe to do so, keep your neighbours informed and lend a hand if they need help
Have you got a storm kit?
If you live in an area prone to weather events, it might be a good idea to have a kit on hand so you can grab it in the event of a weather warning. This could include:
- Torches with spare batteries
- Radio
- Candles and matches
- Simple first aid kit
- Useful or important emergency contacts
