Dr Harry: How to toilet train your dog.

Getting your new puppy or dog toilet training is an important part of helping your pooch become house trained - and it can take some time before they’re fully trained. Dr Harry gives us his tips on toilet training for dogs.

"You could very quickly train your dog to use artificial grass as a toilet. You could put it in a room of the house that you can clean easily, like the bathroom, or something similar. You need to, what I call “seed” the grass... "

'Seeding' the grass - Dr Harry's toilet training tips.

"Well, you actually go and pinch a bit of dog manure and a bit of dog urine from your neighbours dog. And you just put a few drops on the grass and give it an hour or two to dry, then lightly hose it off. You won’t smell it, but your dog will."

"And dogs love to play cards you know - they like to trump one another. So if one dog urinated there, your dog is going to urinate over the top because “Hey! Hang on. This is my territory and I don’t want any other neighbour's dog urinating in my territory, so I’m going to urinate over the top and mark it."

"And that’s the way you train the dog. And of course if you see it happening, this is great and you praise the dog."
