Here are some common Cavoodle health issues¹:

Mitral valve disease (MVD): this heart condition is common in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, making Cavoodles susceptible. Regular checkups and echocardiograms can help detect MVD early.

Syringomyelia (SM): this neurological condition affects the spinal cord and can cause pain and discomfort. MRI scans can diagnose SM.

Eye issues: cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and cherry eye are some eye problems that can affect Cavoodles. Regular eye examsare important.

Anal sac problems.	Sliding or “scooting” the bottom on the floor to relieve itchiness. Frequent biting of the base of the tail. An unpleasant, musky odour. Blood, pus, or other discharge draining from around the bottom. Straining when going to the toilet.	$6,928.

Other health considerations.

Vaccinations: consult your vet for a personalised vaccination schedule. Typically, Cavoodles need core vaccinations (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus) and optional ones (parainfluenza, leptospirosis, Bordetella).

Flea and tick prevention: protect your Cavoodle from parasites with monthly treatments. Options include topical solutions, chewable tablets, and collars.

Grooming your Cavoodle.

Cavoodles have varying coat types, from wavy to curly, requiring different grooming approaches.

Cavoodle grooming needs:

Regular brushing: brush your Cavoodle at least a few times a week to prevent matting and tangles.

Bathing: bathe your Cavoodle only when necessary, using a dog-specific shampoo to avoid drying their skin.
